What is Developmental Studies?

Developmental studies refer to the courses designed to address the academic needs of students who require additional support in specific areas such as mathematics, reading, and writing. Students are placed in these courses based on their ACT sub scores in each of the tested areas. These courses are an admissions requirement mandated by the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning and aim to strengthen students' foundational skills and bridge any gaps in their academic preparation, ultimately preparing them for success in college-level coursework.
